St. John’s, N.L. — The RNC’s major crime unit is investigating a report that three people were shot at in the Cochrane Pond area Sunday afternoon.

Just before 3 p.m., the three adults were in the area for winter leisure activities when they say multiple shots were fired in their direction. When officers arrived, they saw multiple bullet holes in a pickup truck belonging to one of the complainants.

Nobody was hurt and the pickup truck was seized to be analyzed by RNC’s forensic identification services.

It’s not known at this time whether this was an intentional or accidental shooting, as officers were not able to locate the person or persons responsible.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be provided anonymously on the NL Crime Stoppers website at www.nlcrimestoppers.com.
