His co-worker, who was still on the roof, then had to be rescued by firefighters from the St. John’s Regional fire department. The fall happened at about 2 p.m. as the men were apparently examining the roof and one of them somehow lost his footing, falling to the ground in front of the house. It appears the man’s fall may have been slowed when he struck the roof on the first storey the house. Some eavestrough on both sections of roof where the fall occured appeared damaged. The injured worker was examined on scene by paramedics from Eastern Health but he did not go to hospital. When firefighters arrived on scene, they used one of their own ladders to rescue the stranded co-worker. The royal Newfoundland Constabulary is investigating the incident.
