St. John’s city council passed a motion Tuesday to appoint Coun. Sandy Hickman as chairman of St. John’s Sports and Entertainment (SJSE) effective May 31.
Council will also advertise for one additional board member.
A new chair was needed because the term of current chairman Robert Verge is about to expire.
Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary thanked Verge for his hard work during his tenure.
She noted that while council and the board have always had a good relationship, with Hickman as chairman, communication between the board and council should be even further improved.
