The United Way held its third annual touton slider fundraiser Wednesday.

The breakfast meal includes a traditional Newfoundland touton with molasses butter stuffed with a fresh egg and a slice of bologna and served with a side of homemade baked beans and a freshly brewed coffee.

Tammy Davis, executive director for the United Way’s Newfoundland and Labrador chapter, says they sold 365 sliders made this year, which should bring in well over $4,000 directly to the charity, all of which stays in this province to benefit Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.

Thanks to sponsors, this is the second straight year that the organization was able to put off the event without incurring any costs.

In addition to a key sponsorship from HR Project Partners Inc., Coleman’s and Costco donated the fixings for toutons and beans, and McDonald’s Kenmount Road and Topsail Road outlets donated the coffee.
