A home invasion in broad daylight in the middle of St. John’s has sent homeowners to hospital.

Police responded to the incident on Penneywell Road on Thursday at 4 p.m. The RNC says there was an altercation between the invaders and occupants of the home, and a gun was fired. Paramedics rushed to the scene and took those injured to hospital. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects fled the scene and remain at large. Police haven’t said how many people were injured or how many suspects they’re looking for.

The RNC is canvassing the area and is looking to the public for help. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has CCTV footage of the area of Penneywell Road between 3:45 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. is asked to contact the police.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
