St. John’s man arrested for weapons offences

St. John’s, N.L. — Police were called to reports of a “large disturbance” in the city’s centre Saturday evening around 6:30 where a young man was arrested for assault with a weapon.
The 19-year-old suspect was charged with uttering threats, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a firearm. He was held at the city lockup until he appears in court today.
Police are continuing to investigate the matter.
