Nathaniel Joseph Somerton was led into Courtroom No. 7 at provincial court today.
The 33-year-old tried to hide his face as he passed by reporters.
Duty counsel Catherine Boyde and Crown prosecutor Jessica Gallant told Judge Mark Pike that release conditions have been worked out.
Somerton is due back in court on Feb. 15.
Somerton is charged with one count of transmitting child porn between July 6 and July 23, 2016.
He was arrested Tuesday after a police search of a residence in the capital city.
The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU – NL), consisting of members from the RCMP and Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, said in a news release members of its Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) executed a search warrant.
It was in relation to a six-month child pornography investigation.
The investigation into this matter is ongoing and police say further charges under the Criminal Code are pending.
