BAY ROBERTS, N.L.

NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR
CANADA

A joyride by a 19-year-old man and two teens came to an end Sept. 16 with a rollover of the allegedly stolen vehicle they were travelling in on Veterans Memorial Highway.

According to a release, the Bay Roberts RCMP, Bay de Grave Fire Department and local ambulances were called to the accident scene at around 10 a.m.

Two of the vehicle’s occupants were still there when police arrived, while a third had fled the area.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle involved was allegedly stolen from St. John's previous night.

The vehicle is also believed to be part of a gas-and-dash that occurred in Bay Roberts just before the accident and was also involved in a mischief complaint in Harbour Grace the same morning, as well.

The man, a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, all from St. John's, have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and breaches of court orders.

All three suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the rollover.

The trio was held in police custody pending a court appearance in Harbour Grace Provincial Court today, Sept. 17.
