The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) criminal investigation division has made an arrest in connection with an armed robbery at a bank in Conception Bay South (CBS) after the suspect turned himself in.

Tuesday, just before noon, officers with RNC’s operational patrol services, general investigation unit, police dog services, and forensic identification services responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Scotiabank, 288 CBS Highway.

An armed man, who did not have his face concealed, entered the bank with a weapon and demanded cash. He fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash before police arrived. No one was physically injured during the robbery.

The suspect will appear at provincial court in St. John’s at a later date.

Police say several tips were received by investigators after a public appeal.
