Gary Hennessey, 32, Abdifatah Mohamed, 27, Mitchell Nippard, 25, and Tyler Donahue, 23 appeared via video link from Her Majesty’s Penitentary. They were represented in the courtroom by their lawyers, Derek Hogan (for Hennessey), Kevin Baker (for Mohamed), Ken Mahoney (for Nippard) and Michelle Elliott (for Donahue).

The lawyers indicated they are still waiting on additional information from the evidence package. Crown prosecutor Patricia Carpenter said they could expect it soon.

They agreed to set the case over until April 13.

The home invasions were said to have happened on Fourth Street in Mount Pearl on Feb. 3, Mount Royal Avenue in the capital city on Feb. 4, Milton Road in Paradise on Feb. 8 and Angels Road in Paradise on Feb. 9.

The four face more than 150 charges between them, including break and enter, robbery, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and breaching court orders.

Nippard has also been charged with two counts of animal cruelty. He reportedly killed one dog and injured another during the Mount Royal Avenue home invasion.

Another person, Kaylen King, was charged with obstructing justice in connection with the home invasions. She was released to appear in court at a later date.

A fifth man, 28-year-old Mohamed Salim of Toronto, was also charged and was wanted in connection with all four home invasions. However, Salim was found dead March 3 in a worksite gravel pit off the Trans-Canada Highway near St. John’s.

Police said all four home invasions were targeted and are believed to be connected.
