St. John's, N.L. — One of the two vehicles involved in a serious head-on collision in Long Pond over the weekend was stolen, The Telegram has learned.
The RNC confirmed Wednesday that the stolen vehicle was a 2008 red Ford Escape, driven by a male who is still in hospital.
However, no charges have been laid, as the circumstances surrounding the crash is still being investigated.
It happened at around 11:30 a.m. Saturday on the Conception Bay Highway.
Officers with the RNC’s operational patrol services, traffic services section, forensic identification section, as well as firefighters with C.B.S. fire and Eastern Health paramedics, were on the scene.
A woman was driving the other vehicle. She was also taken to hospital and was released Sunday. The male driver’s condition is not known.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash. They’re looking for witnesses or anyone who may have seen the Escape, which was being driven east bound, driving in the area just prior the collision.
