The driver of a taxi was taken to hospital Wednesday after his cab struck another vehicle and light pole during a medical emergency.

The incident happened on Logy Bay Road in St. John’s just before 9 p.m. at the exit from the Outer Ring Road. The taxi had apparently also been involved in an earlier collision with another pole on the same road minutes before the second crash. Emergency officials were initially unable to locate the taxi until the second collision.

The victim was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

No one else was hurt in the incident which left the taxi with extensive damage.
