The couple used the winnings from another ticket to purchase the Set for Life.
“We buy a scattered Scratch‘N Win ticket and Set for life is one of our favorites,” Paul said in a news release about the win.. “I never dreamed the excitement that was ahead of me when I got home.”
“He scratched the ticket and instantly knew what the symbols meant; three parrots and the prize box said Set for Life,” Taylor said. “We couldn’t believe our eyes. I was never a fan of birds, but a parrot is certainly now my favorite.”
Tjey can choose from two options for receiving their prize: $1,000 per week for 25 years, or a lump sum
This win marks the seventh Set for Life top prize awarded in Newfoundland and Labrador in the last 12 months. Lawrence and Janette Gosse of Paradise won in April; in June, Tylor Stewart of Carbonear, as well as Duane and Hazel Parrott of Random Island, and Juanita Smith of Grand-Falls Windsor. In the fall Anthony and Gail Griffiths of Portugal Cove–St. Phillips and Winnie Devereaux of Logy Bay also picked up a Set for Life Prize top prize.
Canadian Tire Gas Bar in Kelligrews sold the winning ticket and will receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
