A second vehicle, an SUV, collided with the front of the same house about two meters away. Another SUV was left on a neighbouring lawn. Reports from witnesses on scene indicate one of the drivers may have been impaired but that has yet to be confirmed by police. The collision occurred at the intersection of Portugal Cove Road and Neary’s Pond Road just before 7 p.m. and left the road closed in that area for about two hours as Royal Newfoundland Constabulary forensic identification officers examined and photographed the scene. The Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s volunteer fire department and Eastern Health paramedics also responded to the incident. More details will be provided as they become available.
