United Way of Newfoundland and Labrador announced today it has officially launched its annual call for applications for community fund grants.
Registered charities operating in the province are invited to submit funding proposals for specific programs/services set to take place in 2018.
In 2017, 48 charities province-wide received grants totalling over $400,000. These grants were made available through the support of individuals and organizations contributing to United Way’s 2016 Campaign.
Grants to be distributed in May of this year are the result of United Way’s fundraising efforts in 2017.
To qualify, programs/services must fit within one of United Way of Newfoundland and Labrador’s three main focus areas:
• From poverty to possibility: moving people out of poverty; meeting basic human needs ( food, shelter and jobs).
• Healthy people, strong communities: improving access to social and health-related support services; supporting resident and community engagement; supporting community integration and settlement.
• All that kids can be: improving access to early childhood learning and development programs; helping kids do well at school and complete high school; making the healthy transition into adulthood and post-secondary education.
The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 12.
All proposals will be reviewed by United Way’s Community Investment Committee. Recommendations will be brought to the board of directors for approval in April. Interested charities can visit nl.unitedway.ca for full details.
