The man from Bay Roberts is scheduled to appear in Harbour Grace provincial court today. He’s is facing charges of break and enter, robbery uttering threats, wearing a disguise with the intent to commit a crime, possession of a dangerous weapon and obstruction.
The incident happened at around 1 a.m. Tuesday in Bay Roberts. The man, who was reportedly wearing a mask, allegedly threatened the lone person inside the home with a knife.
Following a brief struggle, the man left in the victim’s vehicle. Police said the victim suffered minor injuries. Police later found that vehicle in Whitbourne, the same community where the accused was arrested.
RCMP Sgt. Howard Gale told The Compass there was no indication the victim and the man in custody knew one another. Aside from the vehicle, no other items were reported stolen.
Trinity Conception RCMP is receiving help from Placentia, Whitbourne and Clarenville detachments in the ongoing investigation.
