Look up. See those numbers above? Someone in Newfoundland and Labrador has just become one of the biggest lotto winners in Newfoundland and Labrador’s history. As a matter of fact, the prize could be one of the biggest ever won in Canada, the ALC says.

Atlantic Lotto spokeswoman Tracy Shute has confirmed that the holder of the winning ticket has come forward, but said she can’t release any more information until all security processes have been undertaken.

“This is the biggest win ever in Atlantic Canada,” Shute told The Telegram Saturday morning.

There are a lot of rumours rumbling about on social media, including a Facebook post that purports to be the winning ticket. Those posts indicate that a group of 30 or so employees of the Come By Chance refinery will be sharing the prize. Rumours or not, Atlantic Lotto officials won’t be announcing the winner or winners until all checks have been completed, Shute said.

“it’s a wonderful experience, it’s crazy stuff,” she laughed. But security measures must be taken to ensure veracity of the ticket, and protect the winners.

While the Atlantic Lotto main prize has been won in this province, there are a few more lucky winners here. Newfoundland and Labrador winners for the 6 out of 7 on theTwist have been noted in St. John’s and Happy Valley, prizes worth $1,070.
