Some students and parents say students gathered outside at recess to watch a fight. One of the boys involved in the fight pulled out bear spray and the wind carried it into the crowd of students.

One student said the spray went about 18 feet in distance.

The video contained in this story was submitted to The Telegram after being circulated on social media.

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District said the school is in secure mode and there was an incident involving about 10 students, and acknowledged there are reports the incident involved bear spray,

The district  said police and ambulance are on the scene and police are investigating the incident.

The board did not confirm that a number of students were sent to hospital but said they would be transported if necessary.
