St. John’s Regional firefighters were called to a vehicle fire on an off-road trail in Paradise Tuesday night.
The SUV was stuck in a mud pit behind homes on Christine Crescent and was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene. They had to lay an attack line from the road and through a resident’s backyard to access the burning vehicle. The fire was extinguished in minutes but the SUV was completely destroyed in the blaze.
The trail is well-known and well used by off-roaders and follows the high-voltage electrical line between the Paradise neighbourhood and the Outer Ring Road.
No information was available as to how the vehicle reached the area.
The RNC is investigating.
