True Patriot Love Foundation, a national charity dedicating to supporting Canadian military members and veterans, has organized a kayak expedition from Embree to Fogo Island.

The kayak trip, dubbed the Cabot Expedition, is pairing ill and injured veterans with Canadian business leaders to share the unique challenges faced by vets as they transition to civilian life.

The expedition aims to team participants together to complete the challenging journey while raising funds for veterans and their families as they battle mental and physical obstacles from their time in service.

A total of 14 participants will make the trek, crossing the Bay of Exploits until they reach Fogo Island. The expedition is slated to begin on June 10 and expects the kayakers to make Fogo Island by June 15.

Participants have been preparing individually for months but recently met in April for safety training. A local guide will be travelling with the expedition.

The Cabot Expedition is one of three excursions taking place across Canada this year.

Previous True Patriot Love Foundation trips have taken participants across the world, including the North Pole and the Himalayas.
