Woman dies following Friday night motor-vehicle/pedestrian collision in St. John's

A 61-year-old woman has died as the result of a motor-vehicle/pedestrian collision that occurred Friday night the RNC has confirmed for The Telegram.

The collision occurred in front of the Brookfield Road Marie’s Mini Mart convenience store west of Bowring Park just before 7 p.m. and it appears the victim may have been struck by two different vehicles as she was crossing the road.

RNC accident investigators examined and impounded the two vehicles during their investigation. The road was closed until the scene could be cleared by police.

The RNC says that next of kin have been notified and no further information will be released on the victim.

EARLIER STORY:

Firefighters, paramedics and police are on the scene of a serious vehicle-pedestrian collision on Brookfield Road.

The collision occurred in front of Marie’s Mini-Mart west of Bowring Park.

An SUV apparently struck an older woman who was crossing the road in front of the store.

The road in the area is now closed as police begin their investigation into the incident.
