A 19-year-old man arrested in connection with threats reported at a St. John’s high school was denied bail Friday afternoon.
Julio Ribeiro was emotional as provincial court Judge Mark Pike told him that he was being remanded into custody to await his next court appearance, via video-link, on May 2.
Ribeiro is facing a charge of criminal harassment through the social media site Instagram, as well as a charge of breaching a court order. Court documents name a female as the victim of the harassment.
Further details of the case, like all information presented at a bail hearing, are subject to a publication ban.
Holy Heart of Mary High School — and subsequently other schools — was put in safe mode Thursday morning after police received a call from staff at Holy Heart reporting threats.

RNC officers identified Ribeiro as a suspect, and say they located him on Logy Bay Road after he ran from his home.
