BONAVISTA, N.L. – Mental health and addictions services have been moved temporarily in Bonavista.

According to a release from Eastern Health today, Aug. 14, the relocation is a result of mould remediation work in the basement of the Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre.

Services, including the Doorways single session, walk-in counselling service, are now being offered from Golden Heights Manor in Bonavista. Towards the end of August, they will be moved again to the Haley Building at 122 Confederation Dr.

Eastern Health says the presence of mould was confirmed by air quality testing.

“Exposure to the public would be minimal with no significant health impacts for clients or employees,” the release stated.

The decision to relocate was made in the interest of client and employee comfort and as a safety precaution, Eastern Health indicated.

The affected areas of the health care centre are now closed and abatement work has begun.
