The Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation held its east coast launch of the 34th annual Janeway Telethon on Thursday morning at Queen Elizabeth Regional High School in Conception Bay South.

The school is home to this year’s Janeway Champion Miracle Child, Hilary Warren, 15, of Upper Gullies, who is a Grade 10 student at the school.

At 14, Hilary suffered a brain bleed and was found unresponsive by her sister, Bec, at home and was rushed to the Janeway Children’s Hospital for emergency brain surgery.

Today, she has epilepsy. She was joined at the school assembly Thursday by her parents Trina and Duane, sister Bec and brother Kalem.

This year’s telethon will be broadcast from the NTV studios on Logy Bay Road in St. John’s on the weekend of June 2-3.
