TCH reopens following accident

Tuesday morning – Oct. 15 (10:40 a.m.) The RCMP are advising the motoring public that both lanes of traffic east and west bound in the area of Lake O’Brien, east of Lewisporte Junction are now open.

Accident update

An accident around 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 15 near Lake O’Brien east of the Lewisporte Junction caused traffic to be stopped for approximately one hour while police, paramedics and fire rescue attended to the scene.

From observations at the scene a transport truck and at least one other vehicle were involved in the accident. The single vehicle was burned.

The RCMP in Lewisporte have confirmed that at least one person has been taken to hospital in Gander.

Newfoundland Light and Power crews remained on the scene repairing the pole damaged during the collision, but both lanes of traffic are open to motorists.

They ask drivers to continue to use caution while driving as there are some crews still working in the vicinity.

The road was blocked due to a vehicle accident earlier this morning. The Pilot will provide details as they become available.
