The Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker Henry Larsen escorted the Sir Robert Bond through heavy ice conditions in the Strait of Belle Isle and into Corner Brook on Friday morning.
The Bond is scheduled to the leave the city en route for Blanc Sablon at 1 p.m.
Ice breaker assistance will continue on the Bond's crossings between Corner Brook and Blanc Sablon, however, the ice escort will only operate during daylight hours and this will affect scheduled arrival times.
On Thursday the Department of Transportation and Works released a revised schedule for the ferry that will see the ferry:
* Depart Blanc Sablon on March 9 for Corner Brook at 7:00 a.m.
* Depart Corner Brook on March 13 for Blanc Sablon at 7:00 a.m.
* Depart Blanc Sablon on March 15 for Corner Brook at 7:00 a.m.
* Depart Corner Brook on Monday, March 17 and every Monday thereafter * Depart Blanc Sablon on Wednesday, March 19 and every Wednesday thereafter. This schedule will remain in place until ice breaker assistance can provide additional services.
