A 26-year-old St. John’s man found out Sunday how hard it is to evade the police.

The RNC’s K9 unit was able to track and apprehend the man at around 11:20 p.m. Sunday night in the downtown area after he had been sought for an incident near Blackmarsh Road in St. John’s earlier Sunday evening.

The man was arrested and held on charges that include flight from police, dangerous driving and two outstanding arrest warrants.

In a separate incident, a man currently being held at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary in St. John’s had additional charges added to those he is already facing for damaging parking meters in downtown St. John’s.

The 45-year-old man, who is awaiting a court appearance, has charges of damaging a parking meter and a breach of probation added to the similar charges he is already facing.

A driver of a car was issued a seven-day suspension for operating a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol following a traffic stop at 12:30 a.m. early Monday morning.

The incident occurred on the Outer Ring Road near the Portugal Cove Road exit.
He blew a warning from the roadside breathalyzer and earned the seven-day suspension and his vehicle was impounded.
