An 18-year-old man will appear in a St. John’s courtroom this morning following an assault in the east end of the city Monday night.
The RNC responded to the call around 8 p.m. from where they arrested the man and charged him with assault causing bodily harm. He was taken to lockup and held overnight pending his court appearance today.
The victim was treated for injuries at hospital and later released.
In another call, shortly after midnight, a 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with refusing the breathalyzer and resisting arrest.
The RNC conducted a routine traffic stop at 12:20 a.m. early Tuesday and suspected the man of operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
He was charged and later released and will appear in provincial court in St. John’s at a later date.
The RNC had a busy 24-hour reporting period responding to 233 calls.
