RCMP had a west-bound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway outside St. John's closed for hours Monday morning as first responers dealt with a tractor trailer rollover roughly two kilometres west of Paddy's Pond about half way to Foxtrap Access Road.
The rig belonged to Hayward Porter's Trucking Ltd. and was carrying a load of crushed stone and spilled over into the median.
One east-bound lane was open by noon hour and around 1:30 p.m., the west-bound lane was reopened.
While closed, west-bound traffic was being diverted back onto the TCH eastbound and motorists had to exit into Conception Bay South and head back to the TCH via the Foxtrap Access Road to continue west on the TCH.
The front cab of the rig was heavily damaged and the driver escaped with non-life threatening injuries.
