Two people were taken to hospital after the car they were in crashed into a ditch on the Pouch Cove highway in Flatrock just before 1 a.m. Saturday morning. The lone car was southbound when it left the road in heavy fog and rain showers. An official on scene said it appeared hydroplaning may have been a factor in the collision but added that the injuries were not considered serious. Members of the Torbay volunteer fire department responded to the incident along with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.
