An unusual crash on Jill Drive in Conception Bay South saw one man taken into police custody Saturday night.
A 24-year-old man drove his car into a side yard from the street in the Jill Drive area just after 8 p.m.. He turned right at the back of the house, drove through the back yard, crashed through a fence and stopped just short of the neighbour’s house.
The vehicle came to rest on a pile of fence debris and snow but there did not appear to be any serious damage to either the car or the house.
Both the driver and a passenger were checked out by Conception Bay South fire department firefighters and Eastern Health paramedics but they did not require a trip to the hospital.
The driver was led away by a police officer to a waiting patrol car while the homeowner examined the damage to his property from a front patio.
Investigating officers found that the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant. He has also been charged with impaired driving and given tickets for driving while his licence was suspended, no insurance and failure to transfer ownership of a vehice.
He was arrested and held overnight to appear before a judge this morning.
