Man, 19, arrested after St. John’s school lockdowns expected to appear in court

A 19-year-old man is expected to appear in provincial court Friday morning after being charged earlier today in relation to threats reported at a St. John’s high school.

The RNC says that patrol officers responded to a call from Holy Heart of Mary High School just a before 11 a.m. Thursday morning. 

Several schools, including Holy Heart, were put in safe mode as the investigation unfolded.

The RNC officers were able to identify the person that was suspected to have made the threats.

The 19-year-old man was located in the area of Logy Bay Road in St. John’s after he fled from his home on foot. He is facing charges of uttering threats and a breach of a probation order.
