The province’s Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB) has been without one of its compliance auditors for more than a year and that’s just one of the vacancies at the board.

There is still one compliance auditor with the MMSB.

But there are five job vacancies in total at the MMSB, The Telegram was told after making an inquiry.

According to a spokeswoman, past recruitment efforts for the compliance auditor position were not successful and the position has been vacant since Jan. 23, 2017.

The MMSB is the Crown agency tasked with overseeing waste diversion programs in the province, including beverage container and tire recycling.

Other positions vacant at the board are senior financial analyst, vacant since December 2017; director of marketing, communications and public education, a position vacated earlier this month; senior marketing and public education officer, also vacated early this month; and business development officer, vacated in mid-December 2017.

According to the board’s most recent strategic plan current to 2020, it employees 21 people.

The senior financial analyst and the business development officer positions are temporarily vacant as the employees holding those positions accepted other positions within the organization, the spokeswoman said. A competition to fill the business development officer temporarily continues.

As for the communications and public education jobs, a decision whether to recruit for those vacancies has not been made.
