One man was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries early Saturday morning after the SUV he was driving swerved into a ditch and rolled over multiple times on the Southern Shore highway.
The incident occurred at about 1 a.m. less than a kilometer south of the Witless Bay line turnoff. The white Jeep appeared to have hit the shoulder of the road, skid sideways about fifty meters and then rolled over several times in the ditch for another fifty meters.
The truck was extensively damaged and was just being towed out of the ditch by a tow-truck when the Telegram arrived on scene. Members of the Witless Bay volunteer fire department were on scene attending to the incident and cleaning the road of debris. An emergency official said it appeared the man had suffered multiple injuries but was not able to say how serious they were.
The RCMP are investigating the incident and more details will be provided when they become available.
