The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary have announced that they are now investigating the death of Victoria Head, 36, whose body was found Saturday near Oxen Pond Road, as a murder.

In a late-night press release, they say the chief medical examiner has determined her death was a homicide but are not revealing the cause of death. They also say that while her body was discovered in an isolated area of Oxen Pond Road, it’s not known whether the murder occurred there or at another location.

It is believed that Head was last seen in the area of Queen’s Road in St. John’s in the early morning hours Saturday November 11.

Police say that while there doesn’t seem to be any threat to the general public’s safety, they are warning people in the downtown area and those involved in the sex trade industry to be extra vigilant.

There will also be an increased police presence in various downtown areas says the release.

Anyone with information on the homicide of Victoria Head is asked to call the RNC at 709-729-8000, the Major Crime Unit’s Homicide Tip Line at 709-729-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
