Motorists are advised that repairs on Robert E. Howlett Memorial Drive and ramps on Pitts Memorial Drive will begin Thursday, July 19, weather permitting.
A news release notes that sections of Robert E. Howlett Memorial Drive between its intersection with the Southern Shore Highway and Raymond’s Bridge will be reduced to one lane as the contractor works in the area.
Motorists are advised to expect delays.
Four ramps on Pitts Memorial Drive will also be closed temporarily, one after the other, later in the day to facilitate repairs: both eastbound and westbound ramps from Pitts Memorial Drive onto Ruth Avenue; the entrance ramp from Ruth Avenue onto Pitts Memorial Drive towards the TCH; and the entrance ramp from Ruby Line onto Pitts Memorial Drive towards the TCH.
All four ramps are expected to reopen later in the day.
The lane reduction and ramp closures are required to facilitate repairs, ensure the safety of workers and motorists and allow the work to be completed as quickly as possible.
Work on sections of Pitts Memorial Drive and CBS Bypass is expected to begin later in the week.
Motorists are asked to reduce their speed and watch for crews working in the area.
