Eileen Joyce Gill (nee Jones)

Age 88 Years Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Home surrounded by her loving family, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Predeceased by her husband Garland, parents George and Eleanor Jones, sisters Mabel Boone and Gola Snow and brothers Douglas and Otto. Leaving to mourn sons: David (Chris) and Robert (Julie); daughter Neala (Gilles); granddaughters: Kim (Ryan), Maegan (Andrew), Karen (Mitch) and special friends Betty and Ruby and a large circle of cousins, nieces and nephews. Eileen graduated from General Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She was the head nurse at Botwood Cottage Hospital for several years before marrying and raising a family. She was a public health nurse between 1965 and 1984 until her retirement and was widely known as “Nurse Gill” by several generations of students and the community. Special thanks to the staff of Agnes Pratt Home, and her long-time family physician Dr. Pauline Duke. Cremation has taken place. Visitations will take place on Saturday, March 17 from 1-5 pm and 7-9 pm from Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue. Visitation will also take place at Botwood Funeral Home, 147 Commonwealth Drive, Botwood on Friday, March 23 from 1-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A service of celebration will be held at St. James Anglican Church, Botwood on Saturday, March 24 at 11 am, with interment to follow.
