George Stanford

Passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Health Science Complex on Friday March 2nd, 2018. Predeceased by his parents, Reuben and Elizabeth Stanford; parents-in-law, William and Dorothy Stuckless; brothers, Stan and Reuben; and sisters, Clara, Edith, Fanny, Elsie and Louie. George, originally from Grate’s Cove, was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and retired teacher. George leaves with fond and loving memories his wife of 62 years, June (nee Stuckless); children, Linda (Chris) Soper at Port au Port West, Bruce (Bonnie) Stanford at Bridgewater, NS, and Bill Stanford at Halifax, NS; grandchildren, Jason (Emily) Stanford, Ashley (Cara) Stanford, Mark (Kyla) Stanford, Laura (Paul Katusi) Stanford, Mathew Stanford, Lynsey (Katy) Soper-Thistle and Graham Soper (Nikki Sooley); great-grandchilden, Henry, Aven, Hunter, Jaden, Chase, Carter, Clara, Emerich, and Ray; sisters, Gertie Snelgrove at St. John’s and Louise Butt at Victoria; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at 4 South B, Health Science Centre. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s on Sunday, March 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday March 5th, 2018 at 2pm with interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
