In his 88th year, passed peacefully away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 in St. John’s. Predeceased by his parents, Rev. T. Malcolm and Emma Smith; sister, Miriam (Levi) Peddle; brother, Clyde Smith (Alice Smith-Wiscombe); sister, Rosalind Stokes (Cyril); brother, Cecil Smith (Susan); sister, Rita Parsons (Abel); Kathleen Goldsworthy (Kenneth). Leaving to mourn children: Lanette (Craig), Gaylene, Jana (Nathaniel), Daryl (Nim), and Barry (Kathy), and their mother, Bernice; grandchildren: Lydia, Ryan, Taylor, Benjamin, Braden, Zachary and Jared; brothers: Rex Smith (May) and Oliver Smith; close companion Mary Short, and family; sisters-in-law Joan Smith, Susan Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Friday, August 3, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral service will take place from Barrett’s Chapel on Saturday, August 4, time to be announced. Interment to follow at Forest Road Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers donations in Gerry’s memory may be made to KidSport Newfoundland and Labrador.
