Golda Maud Watts

After a long and sometimes agonizing battle with cancer, a loving and beloved wife and mother, Golda Maud Watts, nee Rideout, passed away on the 7th of April, 2018, at her home at 46 Eric St., Apt. 101, St. John's (A1E 4K4) under palliative care, in the presence of her husband, Enos Watts, and daughter Jade Watts. Predeceased by her father Bennett Rideout, a younger sister, Linda, and niece Monique Rideout. Left to mourn are her husband, Enos, and their two daughters, Lisa and Jade, as well as son-in-law James Ghaney. Survived by her elderly mother, Joan Rideout, of Ontario; also, younger siblings Derrick Rideout (Lorraine), Christine Simms (Lloyd), and Ivan Rideout (Peggy) currently residing in Newfoundland, and their children and grandchildren, as well as long-time residents of Ontario—Brian, Barry, Annette, and Craig Rideout, with their respective spouses and children. While a private person, Golda was known for her outstanding hospitality to all visitors to her home. She will be remembered for her quiet dignity. To her immediate family, she epitomized selfless love, unwavering loyalty, and moral and spiritual strength. Words are such weak agents to express the immeasurable loss experienced by her husband and children. The family is grateful for the personal and professional affection and guidance provided by all medical personnel involved in her care. At the request of our cherished wife and mother, it was decided that there be no public visitations. While we appreciate the thoughts and prayers of the many who have learned of her passing, we are not yet ready to receive visitors, even the most well-intentioned, at our home. Any donations, monetary or otherwise, can be forwarded to Daffodil House in St. John's, in the name of Golda Watts. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from Barrett’s Chapel at 2:00pm. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road.
