HEWITT John Basil October 24, 1945 – June 02, 2020 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, poppy and brother John Hewitt age 74 years of St. Shott’s. He passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family at St Clare’s Mercy Hospital on June 02, 2020 after a brief battle with dementia. Predeceased by his parents, George & Theresa Hewitt and parents-in-law, Richard & Mary Molloy. Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 47 years Kathleen; sons, Dennis (Siobhan) and Brian (Jennifer); daughters, Arlene (Paul), Celine (Kirk) and Eileen. Poppy’s five precious grandchildren Aaron & Kaitlyn, Lexie, Natalie & Charlotte. Sisters, Alice O’Neill (Bill), Marie O’Leary (Brendan deceased), Rose Coombs (Mike), Anne Hewitt (Richard), Judy Gibbons (Bas). Brothers; Gerald (Betty), George (Donna) and Pat (Laura) along with a large circle of nieces & nephews, relatives and friends. To those who knew John he was a warm, generous and kindhearted man who always put others before his own needs. He was a lifelong fisherman and farmer who thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors whether on land or at sea. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the staff of St Clare’s Mercy Hospital 7 West for their compassion, care and kindness for John and his family during the final days of his life. Cremation to take place. John will be resting at Fahey’s Funeral home and in light of the current public health advisory funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Fatima Church in St. Shott’s. “Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, all my worries are over and I’m following the path God laid for me”
