Surrounded by those who loved her the most, Louise O’Flaherty of Avondale, age 96, passed peacefully away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Health Science Centre after a brief illness. Leaving to mourn her children: Kevin Flaherty (Alice), Mary Lou Perrier (Cletus), Colleen Wade (Fred), Bernadette Furey (Nick), Patricia (Dan), Jennie (Bill) and Francis. Our mom will be missed by her sister and friend Margaret Doyle. Louise was the proud grandmother to Karen Hulan (Javis), Annette Flaherty (Jason), Tracy Willmott (Wayne), Kelly Martin (Aiden), Gary Perrier, Bradley Wade (Shannon), Sarah Wade (Denis), Nicole Furey (Chris), Natalie Furey (Chad), Tyler Furey, Michelle Hickey (Todd), Ken Kieley (Heather), Gaelene Wooton (Kurt) and a very special great-grandmother to Ashley Hulan, Amelia Flaherty-Martin, Jonah and Jake Willmott, David and Melanie Martin, Liam and Megan Hickey, Connor and Kensie Wooton and soon to safely arrive Baby Wade. As well, many nieces and nephews from the Flaherty, Doyle, Hennessey, Shea and Lyons families. Our mom was fortunate to have been loved by so many people, especially her lifelong friend Anne Doyle; the caregiver who never stopped caring and giving to her, Cheryl Browne (Jim); Hannah Petten, her roommate, and residents and staff at Admiral`s Coast Retirement Centre in Kelligrews where mom resided from 2013 - 2018. Louise was predeceased by her husband George, her son Kenneth, her parents: Patrick and Louisa Lyons, her brothers: Jim and Pete and her sister Katie. Resting at Dunphy's Funeral Home on Saturday, March 17 from 7-9 PM and Sunday, March 18 from 2-9 PM with Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Avondale on Monday, March 19 at 10 AM. Interment to take place following the service at Assumption Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louise‘s memory to Assumption Parish or to the Ashley Hulan Special Olympic Group, Corner Brook, NL.
