Mary Corinne "Queenie" Murphy (Mahoney)

74, of Dartmouth NS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2018, in the Halifax Infirmary, QE ll. Corinne was born January 13, 1944 in St. John’s, NL and was the daughter of the late Leo and Margaret (Coleman) Mahoney. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Donald; sons Liam (Alicia) and Todd; grandchildren Nicholas, Katelyn and Makayla all of Dartmouth, NS; brothers Leo Mahoney, Lindsay, ON, Gary (Kathy) Mahoney, Holyrood, NL; sister Sheila Walsh (Cyril) St. John’s, NL; sister-in-law Kathleen (Francis) Bourgeois, Kippens, NL; brother-in-law Patrick, Sooke, BC; plus many niece’s and nephew’s. She will greatly be missed by her special furry friend Bowser. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Edward and Michael Mahoney, nephew Michael Mahoney all of St. John’s, NL. She enjoyed curling and was a member of the Caribou Curling Club in Stephenville, NL and kept a lifelong love for the game. She loved hockey, paddling, dancing, cards with the girls, bingo, travelling south to warmer temperatures to enjoy the white sandy beaches. She also volunteered at Abenaki Aquatic Club in Dartmouth, NS. She also enjoyed the music of Irish Entertainer Daniel O’Donnell. Many thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and medical staff at both the Dartmouth General and Halifax Infirmary Hospitals for the wonderful medical care and attention given to her. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. Funeral Mass celebrating Mary’s life will be held 6 pm Monday, March 26, in St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 320 Flying Cloud Drive Dartmouth. Corinne will be taken home to Newfoundland to be laid to rest at a later date. Donations in Corinne’s memory can be made to charity of one’s choice.
