Phyllis Emma Mercer

Mrs. Phyllis Emma Mercer, Bay Roberts passed peacefully away, in the presence of family members, at the Pte. Josiah Squibb Pavilion, Carbonear on Monday, August 20, 2018, at the age of 96 years. Mrs. Mercer was predeceased by her husband T. George Mercer, parents Edward James and Sarah Jane (Littlejohn) French, sister Pearl Reid and brothers Clyde and Oswald French. Ever remembered by her family; children: Shirley (Gordon) Sheppard, Calvin, Neil, Sandra (Terry) Barrett and Philip (Beverley); grandchildren: David (Lisa) Sheppard, Deanne, Collette (Andrew) Thoms, Terrilynn (Shawn) Sutton, Colleen (Andrew) and Ryan (Miranda); great-grandchildren: McKenna, Georgia, Benjamin and Noah and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Mrs. Mercer, a life long resident of Bay Roberts, was active in community affairs, particularly during those years when her late husband was mayor of Bay Roberts and the Mercers were participating members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 32, Bay Roberts. The Mercer family wish to thank the wonderful caregivers who enabled her to reside in her own home until recently, and those who then made her life comfortable at Lion’s Manor Nursing Home, Placentia and Pte. Josiah Squibb Pavilion, Carbonear. Resting at Moore’s Funeral Home, Bay Roberts with visitation on Tuesday from 8-9 PM; Wednesday from 10-12 Noon, 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM; Thursday from 10-12 Noon. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 2 PM from the Grace United Church, Coley’s Point with interment to follow at Grace United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace United Church, Coley’s Point.
