On July 18th, 2018 we visited Gros Morne’s Western Brook Pond with two relatives who had travelled a long way to visit this world-renowned UNESCO world heritage site. We were appalled to learn that there was no means of transport to the tour boat on Western Pond which is approximately 1.8 kilometres away.

Since our relatives have health issues, they were unable to walk this distance. We find this situation unacceptable and, as taxpayers, find it inexcusable. This is a national park funded by the taxpayers of Canada, and it goes without saying that all citizens of this country, and for that matter citizens of any country, regardless of their physical abilities, should be provided with a means of transport to access this site. It is an embarrassment to Newfoundland and our country.
