So, Valentine’s Day came as usual in Feb. 14th, but if you watched the local news on TV or listened to it on the radio, you would hear all the lovely things about flowers and candy and taking your husband or wife out to a nice restaurant, but underneath all of that lies a much more significant day, which is Ash Wednesday.

Or dare I mention it, for fear I reveal myself as Catholic? I am sure if it was the start of Ramadan or gay pride day, it would certainly be all over the airwaves.

Much to a lot of people’s dismay, the Catholic faith is still very much alive and well, even though our Newfoundland media choose not to mention it for fear a certain network may be offended. God for us all.
