Bell Island is not up for resettlement Jim Bishop, wherever you got that idea (“Living on Bell Island no longer makes sense,” Jan. 24).

Yes, we have boat issues, but we learn to live with that as we chose Bell Island as our home and workplace. My husband and I have both worked on Bell Island for 27 years and own our home, so why would we even resettle if it was an option, and move to Portugal Cove and have to look for work and pay a mortgage?

As for people who work in St. John’s and go back and forth every day, that’s their choice. I know they go through hard times, but that’s their choice.

Have you ever been to Bell Island? It is a very nice place. The first settlers came to Bell Island in 1600. I dare you to tell Fogo Island that they no longer make sense.
