For what was probably the first time ever, a father-son duo from Conne River were two of the many participants in the 2013 Tely 10 that took place in St. John’s on July 28.
Kieran Benoit, 53, has been running for a number of years as a way to stay in shape and be active.
His son, Brady, 15, decided to join him in his running program 2012 and they soon set their sights on running in the Tely 10.
Kieran said, “We originally planned to participate in 2012 but were a little late in getting ready.
“This year we set our sights on the plan early, did some serious running and increased the amount of time and km for each practice session and were ready to take part this time out.
“Both of us finished the race in over 120 minutes but we’ll be out to shorten that time in 2014.

“Our first entry in the Tely 10 was a good experience for both of us and to be in that type of running atmosphere was tremendously exciting”.
Brady said, “My Dad encouraged me to start running with him last year, and the activity quickly became part of my weekly routine. We both realized that the Tely 10 would be a good event for us, so we really worked hard to enter this year.
“Our main objective was to finish the race which we both did in over two hours. We will continue running now, as we want to enter again in 2014 when our key aim will be to finish at a faster time.
“Several of our friends have said that they want to join us next year which will make the Run more interesting for all of us.”
