Alex Dolomount of St. John’s is the only Newfoundlander to be selected among a number of prospects stretching from Alberta to Newfoundland invited to the Whitecaps FC Academy Network.

For the first time, the Whitecaps FC club is holding a high potential prospects camp in Vancouver featuring players from academy locations across the country, including provincial association partners and both Ontario centres.

Players from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, London and Ottawa, Nova Scotia, P.E.I. and Dolomount from Newfoundland and Labrador are training in the Vancouver area this week.

Dolomount, a 15-year-old Grade 10 student at Holy Heart of Mary high school , is a member of the provincial under-16 team.

A six-foot left-footed midfielder/winger, he plays club soccer with the St. John's U17 boys team.

Dolomount is also an accomplished golfer, playing on the Tely Tour and the provincial junior team. He has represented the province at the Atlantic and national levels numerous times in both golf and soccer.
