No wonder. On Sunday, Gushue won his fifth Swiss Cup Basel, a Grand Slam of Curling event in Basel, Switzerland with a 5-2 win over Thomas Ulsrud of Norway in the final.

The team from the Bally Haly Golf and Country Club, which also includes Mark Nichols, Brett Gallant and Geoff Walker, swept through the event 7-0, which included a 5-3 quarter-final win over the defending champ, Niklas Edin of Sweden.

Gushue won the event in 2015, 2011, 2008 and 2006.

It’s the team’s second Tour win this season, after capturing the Tour Challenge in Regina, Sask. Gushue opened the year winning all three games in the $200,000 Everest Challenge in Fredericton, N.B.
